How It Started

From Compliance Officer to Trading Educator

The Gap I Saw

I spent 8 years in compliance and risk management at investment firms in London. Every day I'd watch traders—retail traders mostly—make decisions based on incomplete information. They'd misread candlestick patterns. They'd size positions without understanding their actual risk exposure. They'd chase tips instead of understanding market structure.

The problem wasn't that they were careless. It's that nobody'd taught them properly. There's a real difference between knowing facts about trading and actually understanding how markets work.

Why I Made the Switch

That's when I realized: the best way to improve market outcomes isn't through regulation. It's through education. Real, structured education that doesn't oversimplify things.

In 2015, I transitioned into full-time education development. Started as a consultant for fintech platforms, but that felt disconnected. Too much focus on user experience, not enough on actual learning outcomes. So when Trader Comit Ltd needed someone to build their curriculum from the ground up, I jumped at it.

What I Built

The three-module framework we use now—Introduction to Market Structure, Technical Analysis on FTSE, Risk Management—that's what I'd wished existed when I was starting out. Each module builds on the previous one. No skipping ahead. No false shortcuts.

I've taught over 3,500 traders using this approach. What I've noticed is that once people understand *why* a candlestick pattern matters, once they see how position sizing directly connects to their risk tolerance, something clicks. They make better decisions. Not because they're following a system I created, but because they finally understand the principles underneath.

What I Specialise In

Three Core Areas of Focus

Each one builds towards better trading decisions

FCA-Regulated Market Structure

How the UK financial system actually works. What the FCA does, why regulation matters, how different instruments are traded on FTSE. It's not thrilling stuff, but it's foundational. You can't trade smart without understanding the environment you're trading in.

  • FCA regulations and compliance framework
  • How FTSE indices work
  • Market microstructure basics

Technical Analysis & Candlestick Patterns

This is where a lot of traders get lost. Candlestick patterns aren't magical. They're visual representations of price action. Once you understand what they're actually showing you—not what someone claims they predict—you can read a chart properly. We focus entirely on FTSE instruments.

  • Candlestick pattern recognition
  • Support and resistance levels
  • FTSE-specific chart reading

Risk Management & Position Sizing

This is the module that separates serious traders from people gambling with a spreadsheet. How much should you risk on a single position? How do you size based on your account, your risk tolerance, your stop loss level? These aren't optional questions—they're the difference between sustainable trading and blowing up.

  • Position sizing calculations
  • Risk-to-reward ratios
  • Portfolio risk management

My Approach

What I Believe About Trading Education

Education Over Tips

I won't tell you what to trade. That's not education—that's noise. What I *will* do is teach you how to think about markets so you can make your own decisions. The traders who last are the ones who understand principles, not the ones who follow someone else's picks.

Disclaimers Matter

Every module we teach comes with clear disclaimers about risk. Trading isn't investing. It's speculative. People can lose money. Fast. That's not a weakness of the education—it's a core part of it. You need to understand what you're getting into before you get into it.

Practical Over Theoretical

I don't care about impressing people with complex models. What matters is: can you apply this? Can you actually read a candlestick pattern? Can you calculate position size? If it's not practical, we don't teach it. Simplicity is underrated in this industry.

"Traders armed with proper education make better decisions. Not because they follow a system I created, but because they finally understand the principles underneath."

— James Harrington

That's what 14 years in this field has taught me. Education works. Shortcuts don't.

What I Teach

The Three-Module Framework

A structured path from market fundamentals to practical risk management

1

Introduction to Financial Market Structure & FCA-Regulated Environment

Start with the foundation. How the UK financial system works. What the FCA does and why it matters. The difference between various trading instruments. This isn't thrilling, but it's essential. You can't understand markets without understanding the regulatory environment they operate in.

  • UK regulatory framework and FCA oversight
  • How FTSE indices are structured
  • Market participants and their roles
  • Trading sessions and market hours
2

Technical Chart Reading & Candlestick Patterns on FTSE

Now you learn to read. What candlestick patterns actually show you (and what they don't). Support and resistance levels. How to analyse FTSE charts without guessing. We focus entirely on practical pattern recognition—the stuff you can actually use when you're looking at a real chart.

  • Candlestick formation and interpretation
  • Common patterns on FTSE instruments
  • Support and resistance identification
  • Trend analysis basics
3

Risk Management & Position Sizing Fundamentals

This is the module that actually keeps people in the game long-term. How to calculate position size based on your account, your risk tolerance, and your stop loss. Why risk-to-reward ratios matter. How to avoid the catastrophic losses that wipe out traders. Most people skip this. The ones who don't are the ones still trading five years later.

  • Position sizing calculations
  • Risk-to-reward ratio planning
  • Stop loss and profit target setting
  • Portfolio-level risk management
